Viscoelastic fracture of a functionally graded material strip

  • In this paper, the viscoelastic fracture of a functionallygraded material strip with a crack normal to the gradient direction isstudied. The linear elastic crack tip fields subjected to stress load andstrain load are obtained with the finite element method. The effects of thecrack location, crack length, material gradient index and the loading on thecrack tip field are investigated. In addition, the stress intensity factorsof the viscoelastic functionally graded strip are obtained with thecorrespondence principle for the viscoelastic solids.
