Preface to the Special Issue on Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program: Part II——Elevating Young Talents in Mechanics to Empower the Nation's Future

The development of a country depends on its talents. The inheritance of a profession lies with the youth. At present, global technological competition has entered a deep-water zone where "talent is at the core", and young scientific and technological talents are the source reserve of the country's strategic scientific and technological forces. The "Several Measures on Further Strengthening the Cultivation and Utilization of Young Scientific and Technological Talents" clearly states that "young scientific and technological talents should be supported to take on major responsibilities and play leading roles" The "Proposal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development" also mentions "accelerating the building of national strategic talent forces and cultivating and bringing up more strategic scientists, leading scientific and technological talents, and other types of talents", demonstrating the country's strategic determination to build a high-level scientific and technological innovation talent team.
