Experimental study on active control of a rotating flexible beam with time delay

  • In this paper, active control of a rotating flexible beamwith time delay is experimentally investigated. A servo motor is used todrive the beam in a rotating motion and a piezoelectric (PZT) actuatorsticked on the beam is used to control the beam in the elastic vibration.Three experimental cases were performed, that is, (1) only with the servomotor for active control and the time delay only for the motor; (2) with theservo motor and PZT actuator for active control and the time delay only forthe PZT actuator; (3) with the servo motor and PZT actuator for activecontrol and the time delay only two all. The experimental resultsdemonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of time-delay feedbackcontroller.
